May 26th weekend edition of our “Top 20 +” e-discovery compendium. SPOTLIGHT: Predictive coding ain’t really “new” (thoughts from eTERA Consulting)

Our weekend edition of the “Top 20 … plus more” … a snapshot of some interesting e-discovery blog/web site posts, vendor news/views on a wide range of electronic discovery related issues, and other tech developments from the past week.    It is compiled by Master Sensei Social Media Guru Rob Robinson who is Vice President of Marketing for Orange Legal Technologies, a company that is a long-time member and sponsor of The Posse List and The Electronic Discovery Reading Room.

Rob compiles the information from online public domain resources and highlights key electronic discovery related stories, developments, and announcements.  This is supplemented by the editorial staff of The Electronic Discovery Reading Room.

This week’s spotlight:  Predictive coding ain’t really “new”, says Todd Haley from eTERA Consulting

The phrase “predictive coding” burst onto the e-discovery stage (more or less) in June 2011 when Recommind announced it had secured a patent.   But Recommind’s competitors as well as e-discovery commentators jumped all over this claim like scorched cats saying predictive coding was no more than a set of technologies or combination of technologies long in use.  As Todd Haley of eTERA Consulting says in a recent post “predictive Coding is not “new” – just “new” to the legal industry”.  For his thoughts, click here.
