April 28th edition of our “Top 20 +” e-discovery compendium >SPOTLIGHT: webinars by Fios Inc. and eTERA Consulting

Our weekend edition of the “Top 20 … plus more” … a snapshot of some interesting e-discovery blog/web site posts, vendor news/views on a wide range of electronic discovery related issues, and other tech developments from the past week.    It is compiled by Master Sensei Social Media Guru Rob Robinson who is Vice President of Marketing for Orange Legal Technologies, a company that is a long-time member and sponsor of The Posse List and The Electronic Discovery Reading Room.

Rob compiles the information from online public domain resources and highlights key electronic discovery related stories, developments, and announcements.  This is supplemented by the editorial staff of The Electronic Discovery Reading Room.

This week’s spotlight: webinars by Fios Inc. on “Special Masters in e-Discovery”, and one by eTERA Consulting on the “Globalization of e-Discovery”

We know.  You were just dying to get more links about Judge Carter’s decision upholding Judge Peck’s predictive coding decision.  Nah.  There must be yottabytes of links out there by now.  And you can rest assured that Rob Robinson has taken a break from his usual weekend pasttime of reorganizing his baseball card collection and is spending his entire weekend cataloging what is out there on Carter/Peck/predictive coding for next week’s “Top 20+”.

Instead, links for two webinars this past week:

1.  Fios chats with Craig Ball about special masters in e-discovery

As most of us know, Craig Ball is a major star in the e-discovery firmament.  He has published dozens of articles about law and technology, with a focus on computer forensics.  He is probably best known for his articles in Trial magazine, the ABA Journal, and Law Technology News.  And his brilliant column Ball in Your Court.

This past week, Rebecca James (Programs Manager at Fios, Inc.) had the opportunity to chat with him about the growing trend of using special masters in e-discovery.  It was a wide ranging discussion that included topics such as why you want/need a master, how to work with special masters, where to find a special master and how much it will cost, etc.  For a most enaging conversation click here.

2.  eTERA Consulting chats with Ashish Prasad and Gregory Bufithis about the globalization of eDiscovery

In a shameless display of self promotion, we’d also like to draw your attention to a webinar hosted by eTERA Consulting on the globalization of e-discovery.  The webinar featured Ashish Prasad (Founder and CEO of Discovery Services LLC), and our own Gregory Bufithis, Founder and CEO of The Project Counsel Group which includes The Posse List and The Electronic Discovery Reading Room.  Ashish is widely regarded as among the leading experts on discovery from his days at Mayer Brown (he was Chair of the firm’s Electronic Discovery Practice) plus his work with the Sedona Conference, the Practicing Law Institute and as Adjunct Professor of Law at Northwestern University Law School.  Greg is based in Brussels and has been running e-discovery projects throughout Europe these past 7 years.  You can access that webinar by clicking here.
