9 April 2012 - Tom Groom of D4 LLC has written a brilliant paper that explores the three primary approaches eDiscovery professionals use to systematically prioritize documents that are being considered for review:

1) Keyword Search

2) TAR-PC based on Categorization with Conceptual Search Technology

3) TAR-PC based on an Active Machine Learning approach using a Support Vector Machine
 

Each of these three approaches has its own unique set of advantages and disadvantages and, when used in conjunction with careful documentation and appropriate iteration, can survive a challenge by a party’s opponent in litigation.
