13 January 2012 – If you follow the multitude of e-discovery pundits and bloggers, there seems to be a general agreement that lawyers take a disproportionate role in the battle to solve what is largely a technological problem, i.e, how to find information that is relevant to a case from the huge vats of electronically stored information that are collected and preserved in many cases or government investigations. In a very informative article (chock-a-block with cites to excellent posts and articles) Karl Schieneman, President and owner of Review Less, a consulting and document review company which specializes in machine-assisted review, argues that lawyers, time and time again, stand in the way of technology, preventing them from making real progress in the field of electronic discovery.
